What is down? Why is down better than Feathers?
Feathers on geese provide minimal protection from the elements; they help in attracting a mate, aid in the flight of the goose, they do not trap or hold heat, and therefore do not provide added warmth. When a manufacture offers you a comforter filled with feathers or a combination of feathers, they have
simply offered you a cheap filling with no real quality inside.
Down is hidden underneath the goose feathers; it is the expensive, plush, superfine fibers that trap the air pockets and keep the goose toasty warm, insulating the goose?s body heat from the elements. The Down in our comforters does the same for you; and that is why we make all our comforters and pillows with 100% Down only!
What is fill power?
Fill power is basically how well the down expands (also called loft). The better the Down expands, the more warm air is trapped in the down, thus providing a warmer and plusher comforter. If you choose a lightweight comforter with higher fill power, it will provide the same amount of warmth as a heavier comforter with lower quality fill power.
What is most important with Down is the quality not the quantity, higher quality Down comforters are lighter and warmer; lower quality down comforters are clumsier and provide less warmth per ounce.
A high quality Down Comforter is toasty warm in the winter and cool all year around. Please see our guide to decide which comforter is meant for you.

What is the outer shell or ticking made of?
We use only higher thread counts. The thread count (TC) is the number of thread in one square inch of fabric; the higher the count, the more the durable the ticking. All of our thread counts are 300 or higher, because we believe in making durable quality merchandise!
Why are all our comforters made with a baffle box design?
All our comforters come with Baffle boxes. This design helps to keep the down from forming uneven patches of down; this eliminates cold patches. Also the Baffles allow the down to rise to it?s maximum height (loft). The more the loft, the more amount of insulation provided to keep you the warmest.
What is the Piping?
It is the outer edge of the down comforter, or pillow. This is constructed carefully to secure the down stuffing inside the comforter. It is double edged for strength and resilience with a silk cover. A durable and attractive edging to a beautiful down product.
How do I clean my Down comforter?
We advise that you keep your down comforter in a duvet cover and down pillows in a pillow case. This will help it stay cleaner longer, because washing a down comforter should be done only when absolutely necessary. Spot clean when possible, our comforters are machine washable but for major cleanings you may want to use a professional launderer.
